Oregon West Lumber Sales found its humble beginnings in necessity. Owner Ron Hailicka was asked to locate and mill very high end, overlength ship building material to assist in the restoration of the "Oldest Commissioned Warship Afloat in the World". The USS Constitution a.k.a. "Old Ironsides". At over 210 years old.It was quite a task locating and matching the specific type of fiber needed to restore "Old Ironsides" properly.
Upon fulfilling the order, Ron began to think that a custom mill was needed in the Southern Oregon area around Medford and set out to make it happen. He began by assembling a team of lumbermen and machines to start a mill in Butte Falls, Oregon. In March of 1995 Oregon West Lumber Sales (OWLS) was born. Just a few years later he purchased property next to Crater Lake Hwy in Eagle Point and moved the operation.
As the need for such a mill proved to be true in the Medford area, OWLS added an edger, planer, resaw, moulder, sander, kiln, and a delivery truck to facilitate the growth and need for more niche product lines.
Our goal is to produce quality, natural wood products from our local renewable forest., to supply the Medford area with unique products that are different than the mass produced or engineered lumber products so prevailant today.
If you are looking for something different just ask. If we don't make it we probably know who does.
